The insanity that has gripped American politics is something that many of us view with alarm, particularly the dysfunctional, sociopathic actions of Republicans. While Democrats are also a loathsome, spineless bunch, they pale by comparison the the far-right lunatics who stomp about in their jackboots throwing hissy-fits over imaginary conspiracy theories and other delusions.
Ten years ago, I make a momentous decision: I eliminated all Republicans from my life. This meant losing about 40% of my income, but I realized that putting up with their nonsense was stressful and depressing. So, one blissful day, I sent e-mails to all the Republicans I was aware of in my space telling them I no longer wished to have anything to do with them. This caused a bit of an uproar for a few days, but after that passed, my life became downright pleasant.
Since then, whenever I meet someone new, I carefully assess their politics and, if I discover they have bought into any of the Republican cant, I sever the relationship immediately and walk away. Life is too short to waste time on their ilk.
Republicans are people who have cobbled together a political philosophy based on hate, greed, selfishness and bigotry. They’ll pretend otherwise, but if you look closely at what they stand for, you’ll discover I’m right. Now I ask you,why would any decent and caring person want to have such a vile person in their lives? For me, it was easily worth losing a large portion of my income and having to downscale considerably to be rid of this malignancy.
With this in mind, I am starting this blog for unabashed liberals only. Conservatives are not welcome and their comments will not be approved. I will introduce issues for discussion by progressives. Since the Left has absolutely no voice in the mass media, the world of blogging has been helpful in getting our views heard. The right-wing loons completely control the mass (corporate) media’s agenda. All it takes is a dozen teabaggers holding a rally to get coverage, but 2000 peace activists can rally and not even get a mention.
Also, be warned, I am no fan of that pathetic center-right Republican currently ensconced in the Oval Office. I see precious little difference between Mr. Obama and Dubyuh. I certainly do not consider Mr. Obama a Democrat and will not vote for him in 2012. Those who feel that Mr. Obama is still worth supporting should carefully study the list at http://stpeteforpeace.org/obama.html. If, after reading what’s there, you still could cast a vote for this fraud, then you will not find this blog to your taste and should probably go elsewhere.
I am not interested in having a large readership, nor am I interested in attracting anyone but “old school” progressives. My goal is to provide an oasis for the handful of progressives who are left in the United States. Topics discussed will not be just political but will range from cultural and social issues to whatever catches my fancy (or my readers’ fancy).
So, if this blog feels right to you, welcome aboard. Otherwise, don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.
